International Museum Day (May 18, 2025)
To celebrate, many museums in Tokyo — including the Tokyo National Museum, the National Museum of Nature and Science, and the National Museum of Western Art — will have free admission. This is no secret though, so be prepared for large crowds.

Yokosuka Curry Festival (May 17-18, 2025)
Alongside the classic Yokosuka Navy Curry and Maritime Self-Defense Force Curry, there’ll be a curry buffet and a curry bread festival. You’ll also be able to try regional curries from all over Japan, from Aomori down to Ehime.

Okinawa Festival (May 17-18, 2025)
Enjoy an Orion beer while watching performances from Okinawan artists and comedians. There will also be performances of eisa — Okinawa’s unique style of traditional dancing. There’ll be four stages with a mix of comedians, DJ’s, and other musicians for you to flit between. No matter what you’re in the mood for, it’ll be there, Okinawan style.

Shibuya Kagoshima Ohara Festival (May 17-18, 2025)
The Shibuya Kagoshima Ohara Festival is a vibrant cultural event held annually on May 17-18, 2025, in Shibuya, Tokyo, celebrating Kagoshima Prefecture’s heritage. Named after the folk song “Ohara-bushi,” it features a lively parade on Sunday (12 PM–5 PM) along Dogenzaka-dori and Bunkamura-dori, with over 2,000 dancers in colorful yukata and happi performing synchronized traditional dances to taiko drumming and Kagoshima melodies like “Ohara-bushi” and “Shibuya-ondo.”

The Yokohama Night Flowers is a seasonal fireworks festival held at Yokohama Port.
